Mission

The mission of The Ballet School is to provide quality dance training in a healthy and nurturing environment.  In classes that emphasize technique, style, and energy, students will develop their skills and personal expressiveness. Students are encouraged to use their minds as well as their bodies to become whole dancers and to gain the self-confidence necessary to meet the challenges of the dance studio and beyond.

799 Middlesex Road

The Ballet School’s studio is located in Topsham, Maine, on Route #24, about 5 miles from the Brunswick/Topsham bridge.  The spacious studio is equipped with sprung flooring designed to decrease the risk of injuries for dancers.

Coastal Maine Youth Ballet is now

Merrymeeting Ballet Caravan

We are launching a capital campaign in Fall 2009 to raise money for our Spring Performance 2010 in Boston, as well as begin our renovation of the upstairs studio at The Ballet School. The years 2009 -2010 will be filled with opportunity for our fantastic dancers to expand their experience and share their passion with communities throughout New England.

To further enrich the lives of our dancers, MBC will  perform and collaborate with dancers across disciplines and cultures. The Ballet School’s affiliated performing company is embarking on a mission to bring ballet into the streets, into the public sphere. We want dance to once again be so vital to the concept of community that people everywhere value the presence of dance in their public lives.

Look for us in the upcoming Big Brother's, Big Sister's First Annual Variety Show at the Chocolate Church, 7:00 pm Friday June 26th, 2009.

Each spring Company members and students from the school are joined by professional guest artists to perform original ballets.  Past performances include La Boutique Fantasque, Hansel and Gretel in the Enchanted Forest, Blackberry Winter ~ A Fawn's First Year and B is for Ballet ~ A Collection of Dances in Three Parts, Something Lost, Something Found, A Midsummer Night's Dream, and Rock Me, Mama. Enora and the Dragon was a huge success thanks to our wonderful volunteers, and congratulations to the dancers on a fabulous performance!
