FACULTY

JESSICA HOLLOWAY is the new owner and director of The Ballet School, taking over from her friend and mentor of over 15 years, Elizabeth Drucker. Jesse trained at the School of American Dance now the Maine State Ballet, in Portland, Maine. She attended summer ballet intensives at Boston Ballet, Pennsylvania Ballet and with David Howard in New York City. She danced many roles with The Maine State Ballet including Red Riding Hood, in Sleeping Beauty, and Columbine Doll, in Nutcracker. A graduate of Duke University in Durham, North Carolina, and The Waynflete School in Portland, Maine, Jesse seeks to integrate her wide experience with world dance forms with her passion for classical and contemporary ballet. She has been teaching professionally for five years.  

ELIZABETH DRUCKER is former owner and director, and serves as advisor and guest teacher at The Ballet School. Elizabeth received her training at the School of American Ballet in New York City and went on to dance professionally with The New York City Ballet.  Locally she has performed as a principal dancer for Maine State Ballet dancing as Clara in The Nutcracker and the title roles in Cinderella and The Sleeping Beauty.  She has been teaching in Maine for the past fifteen years.

CHRISTINA BERRY trained at the Bonnie Hayes School of Performing Arts in South Windsor, Connecticut, where she also taught Ballet, Tap, and Jazz for 13 years.  In addition to annual performances in Connecticut, she was among four dancer's chosen from her school to perform for PBS Television in 2000.  Christina recently moved to Maine, and has been teaching First Steps and Pre-Ballet classes at The Ballet School since 2001.

DONNA BISSETT has been with The Ballet School since 1993 when she was hired as apprentice to its founder, Terre Burke.  She began her dance training in Massachusetts with Margaret Earle and Becky Arnold, performing jazz and modern pieces with the Becky Arnold Dancers.  Since moving to Maine and joining the Ballet School, Donna has also taught dance at the Bath YMCA and Casco Bay Movers, and performed locally.

LARRY LEE VAN HORNE has been a teacher, choreographer, and performer of modern, ballet and jazz. Company credits include: Atlanta Ballet, Ballet Arts MN, Ballet New England, Casco Bay Movers, Concert Dance Company of Boston, Maine State Ballet, Minnesota Dance Theatre, Portland Ballet, Ram Island Dance Company, and Zenon Dance Company. Some of his teachers have been: Chris Aiken, Robert Barnett, Sheila Bellefleur, Fred Benjamin, Danny Burcheski, Sam Costa, Neil Hess, Lise Houlton, Ted Kivitt, Lenore Lattimore, Jose Mateo. He has been performing and teaching for over two decades.
